One Good Ombre

August 1st, 2012 by Lorrie Walker in Hair

There’s a hair color trend that started last year and it’s picking up steam here in Lakeland- ombre.

Merriam-Webster defines ombre as having colors or tones that shade into each other. Think of getting your hair colored and not touching it up for six months. That’s ombre!

With a growing number of requests at our Lakeland hair salon for this hair color, we thought it would be appropriate to explain a bit about it and offer some tips, should you choose to make this statement with your hair.

Ombre can be subtle or bold. Stars including Nicki Minaj and Lady Gaga have exhibited the extreme version of the style (color us shocked!), while Ashley Simpson and Raven Symone lean more natural in their take on ombre hair.

The Upside of Ombre

There is a major plus to ombre: it’s incredibly low-maintenance in terms of needing touch-up color. After all, who’s going to notice (or care) if you have four inches of natural hair color or six?

It also works on all complexions and skin tones. We provide a consultation before we ever break out the color so that together, we come up with the ideal color combination that best accentuates your skin.

Things to Keep in Mind

Obviously, you don’t want a pink and black ombre ‘do if you work in a law office. We caution out clients to just be realistic about the tone and hue when taking on this look.

If you’re hair already is colored, understand that we may have to do some color correction to achieve the proper look.

Good luck rockin’ this trend this summer!
