Michael Rose
With a father who was a barber and a mother who was a hair stylist, it can be said that Michael Rose was born to be in the business of making people beautiful. A licensed hair stylist since 1969, Rose once operated the third largest day spa in Rhode Island. He sold that and “retired” to Florida, with the intention of taking up golf. Restlessness soon settled in and in 2007 Rose opened Michael Rose Hair Designs.
A fixture in the pageant arena since 1972, Rose serves as the northeast director for hair styling for the Miss USA pageant, owned by real estate mogul and reality TV personality Donald Trump. He also is active in the Miss USA pageant system and consults with contestants at the local, state and national levels on hair and makeup.
Through the years, Rose has worked with many of the pageant world’s most famous contestants, including Miss USA 2006 Tara Connor, Miss USA 1995 Shanna Moakler, and Miss Rhode Island USA 1997 Claudia Jordan, a model on NBC’s Deal or No Deal.
Rose also has served as a stylist to the stars, including singer Ann Murray and actors Tom Hanks, Suzanne Somers, Olivia de Haviland, Florence Henderson, Debra Messing and Vanessa Minnillo.
Success for Rose is seeing a woman walk into his salon without any confidence and watching her leave an hour later with a new hairstyle and feeling as though she’s 10 feet tall.
Whether it’s a new cut, bold highlights, a glamourous makeup consultation or an updo for a wedding or other special occasion, clients are comfortable in the capable hands of Michael Rose.
Rose hand-picked an accomplished team of stylists when he opened his salon. The stylists working with him are known for their professionalism, expertise and work ethic.
Allison Wishart
Allison became a hair stylist in 2005 and joined Michael Rose Hair Designs when it opened in 2007.
This Ohio native who moved to Lakeland in 2005 is a second-generation hair stylist who brings a well-rounded repertoire of talents and interests to the Lakeland hair salon. She does ethnic hair, hair extensions and permanents. In addition to her accomplishments as a master hair colorist and stylist, she also offers facial waxing, makeup consultation/application, pedicures and natural nail manicures. Allison does clipper cuts and a portion of her clientele is men.
Allison has a dynamic personality that is endearing to clients and immediately sets them at ease. She brings out the best in people when it comes to hair cuts, styles and colors by taking a great many factors into consideration. Facial shape, skin tone and facial features of each individual client are considered when creating the ideal hair cut and color to create a flattering look.
Allison continues to hone her craft by taking continuing education courses annually, including courses through Paul Mitchell the School.
Christina Rogers
Christina is a Lakeland native who has worked as a hair stylist since 2001. She has been an integral part of Michael Rose Hair Designs since it opened in 2007.
Her down-to-Earth personality, serious approach to hair design and dedication to client satisfaction enable her to get to the heart of a client’s needs and desires relative to their hair style. Each client’s lifestyle and willingness to maintain a certain style or color are considered when Christina shares recommendations with her clients. Whether the client wants something quick and easy to style each morning, or is in search of an intricate, trendy look, Christina delivers every time.
Christina is a master colorist and a trained Schwarzkopf and Pureology technician. Her clientele includes men and women, and she does everything from short, sporty hair cuts to sultry styles for long hair.
She keeps up with the latest styles, trends and techniques by attending ongoing education courses throughout Florida each year.
Linda Byers
Linda joined the team at Michael Rose Hair Designs shortly after it opened in 2007.
A licensed barber since 1973, about half of Linda’s clients are men. The other half is made up mostly of women who like her to do what she does best: short, sassy haircuts.
When it comes to cutting women’s hair, Linda- who also is a licensed hair stylist- loves to give them a short style that accentuates the shape of their face and gives them a sexy neckline.
Linda is a master with a razor and is a technically trained Roffler stylist. The Roffler method is a European barbering technique for hair cutting and styling introduced in the United States in 1958, but practiced by relatively few stylists.
Many members of Linda’s clientele have been with this sassy stylist for 30 years.
Like the other stylists at Michael Rose Hair Design, continuing education is important to Linda and she attends numerous courses annually.
